A Heritage How-To Workshop

The Suffolk River Heritage Foundation will present a workshop on preserving your family heritage and history on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the CE&H Ruritan Community Hall at 8850 Eclipse Drive, Suffolk, Virginia, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Have you wished your ancestors had left a more complete record of who they were and how they lived their lives? Do you have family pictures and you don't know much about people in them? Will future generations of your family wish you had preserved what you know of family heritage and history so that they will know more about you and their ancestors?

At the Suffolk River Heritage Foundation (formerly the CE&H Heritage Foundation) we often receive inquiries from individuals asking about how to preserve their family's history. We have considerable experience in this, resulting from our writing and publishing The River Binds Us, which documented the history and heritage of the Crittenden, Eclipse, and Hobson watermen villages of northwestern Suffolk, Virginia.

Our development of and presentation of "A Heritage How-To Workshop" is in reply to those inquiries. We will have a brief presentation providing an overview of the possible steps for preserving a family history and then provide breakout areas dealing with the steps. These will include determining the scope of your effort, approaches to family researching, possible technologies, types of publishing approaches, etc.
